The Imperial Charity shops in Westbury have had an external makeover, with a new colour scheme and new signage to freshen up their appearance.
The other aspect of the makeover is a brand new website. A professional company was commissioned to produce the website which is now up and running and can be found at www.imperialcharitywest bury.co.uk.
The charity is particularly proud of the website which not only shows all their activities but also provides up-to-date information and will soon have items for sale as well. Trustees are keen to encourage as many people as possible to use the website. It can also be used for applying for membership of the charity and also to register for volunteering.
At a recent trustees’ meeting, the trustees reiterated their aim to take the charity forward, not only in appearance, but also by increasing their charitable activities. To this end, they increased their budgets for this financial year to an all time high.
Bob Summerfield, business manager said, “This provides a further incentive to all staff and volunteers to work even harder than they are now (if that is possible) to enure shop revenue can achieve these new targets.
“Competing against the larger national charities is a continuing struggle, but trustees are determined to do everything they can to publicise the fact that we are very much a local charity. We are confident that by continuing to offer free collection and delivery and 10% discount to members of HM Forces, that our core areas of support of Warminster, Westbury and Trowbridge, will continue their donations to us and avail themselves of the shops.
“We are also keen to stress that all monies raised are spent within the local community. This is done by supporting special needs schools by providing grants of up to £1,500 for the extras they would ordinarily not be able to afford. Also, organising and financing the monthly coach trips for senior citizens and people of all ages with special needs. organising and providing entertainment in care and nursing homes on a monthly basis, and laying on the ever-popular New Year Show and Party. The charity will also try to help anyone in need where we possibly can and if it is within our remit.”
