After nearly a year or so of uncertainty Imperial Charity has now finally completed the move out of the shop at 24 Warminster Road and moved lock stock and barrel into additional premises above their original shop at 27. Warminster Road, just 50 metres away!
Charity founder David McCance explained, “It has taken a little imagination, coupled with a large degree of optimism for our staff and volunteers to amalgamate the three shops, but everyone now feels they have made a success of the move; they are also happy they can continue to provide the same degree of service as previous.
“Although we will not be able to display quite as many items of furniture due to space limitations, we are confident we will still be able to accept all donations as we have storage available to accommodate any overflow which will ensure the shop is fully stocked at all times.
“It is due to the overwhelming generosity and kindness of donors and the continued loyalty of customers, new and old, that Imperial Charity has had yet another very successful year. To date this year we have been able to provide 7 coach trips enabling a total of 784 senior citizens and people of all ages with special needs to enjoy a day out at the seaside or places of interest, organise 209 entertainment sessions in care and nursing homes throughout Wiltshire, donate £4,325 in grants to special needs schools for pupils to enjoy a “special treat” or provide a needed piece of equipment and finally produce two variety shows for local people.
“With the added bonus of the charity’s new shop in Westbury High Street being so successful and popular in a very short space of time, we anticipate being able to do even more within the local community in the coming year.”
