WESTBURY’S police inspector will help raise money for a charity which helps bereaved families of police officers, by running the Bath Half Marathon on Sunday 3rd March.
Lindsey Winter, sector inspector for Warminster, Westbury, Tisbury, and Mere, is helping raise funds for COPS (Care of Police Survivors). She will be running with Andy Cooper, the father of PC Dan Cooper.
PC Dan Cooper died when his patrol car crashed into a tree near Bradford-on-Avon in 2010. His family received support from COPS and have raised in excess of £13,000 for the charity to date.
Chief Inspector Sue Austin and PC Geoff Winter are also part of the team running the 13.1 miles for COPS.
Inspector Winter has been running for 15 years and has run the London Marathon three times, as well as other full and half marathons in the UK and Ireland.
She said, “Running the Bath Half Marathon this time is extremely important because we all want to run a local half marathon and raise money specifically for the COPS charity.
“COPS is an important charity because of all the work that they do with the families of police officers.
“It isn’t a well publicised charity but it should be!”
COPS is a UK registered charity dedicated to helping surviving families rebuild their lives after the trauma of a line of duty death of a police officer.
