WESTBURY’s community beat manager PC Nick Holt is moving on after three years in the role.
From Monday 12th October PC Holt will be moving to Wiltshire CID, and PC Jo Philpott will be taking over as the town’s beat manager.
PC Nick Holt told the White Horse News that he had enjoyed his time on the neighbourhood policing team.
He said, ”It’s been good. When I took over three years ago there was a redeployment of police staff which was looked upon badly locally, but the proof of that is evidenced in the facts and figures. Three years ago we were detecting 16 – 17 percent of crime, and now it stands at 30 percent, so we’ve almost doubled that. Reported crime is also down, and has been down year on year for three years. It wouldn’t have been possible without the help and support of the people of Westbury.”
PC Holt added that he is proud of the work the NPT has done in the last three years, and that he hopes things will continue to improve.
He said, “There’s a lot to be proud of, but there’s a long way to go. Anti-social behaviour has become the focus and we’re working with people around the town to reduce and eliminate the long-term problems.
“It’s been interesting, I feel I’ve made quite a few good relationships with local people which hopefully Jo will take on and develop further. I wish Jo all the best, it’s a great role and we enjoy the support of the people of Westbury. I’m looking forward to CID. It will be very different from what I’ve been doing, but will help sharpen my investigative skills.”
