Westbury’s celebrated Street Fayre takes place on Saturday 17th July and promises to be bigger and better than ever.
The Street Fayre, which is organised by Westbury Town Council together with Westbury Lions and other local organisations, is a biennial event which takes place throughout the town centre.
During the daytime there is a mix of events, displays, activities and entertainment taking place, culminating in an evening of musical entertainment in Westbury’s refurbished historic Market Place.
The celebrations kick off at 10.00am and the daytime events, entertainments and activities run until 4.00pm and will include:
• Funfair rides, sideshows, inflatables and miniature railway (High Street)
• Climbing tower and water walker (Edward Street by the library)
• Food market and hot food (Maristow Street)
• Charity and local organisations stalls (Maristow Street)
• Pony rides (All Saints churchyard)
• Music, dancing and majorettes performances (Market Place)
• Dog show (Market Place)
• Petting zoo (High Street)
• Street entertainers (throughout the town centre)
From 6.00pm until midnight the Street Fayre focuses on the Market Place with a lively programme of music and entertainment taking place on the main stage area. The evening event will be hosted and compered by well known comedian, Geoff Whiting, who will introduce local bands and performers plus ‘bluegrass’/country band ‘The Doubtful Guest’ and headline act ‘Sgt Pepper’s Only Dartboard Band’
Cllr Dave Windess who is co-ordinating this year’s event commented, “The Street Fayre is a great opportunity for the local community to come onto the streets to celebrate summer in style. We have a lively programme of entertainment this year with something for everyone – all we need is some warm summer weather!”
