FORMER Mayor of Westbury, Terry Clements, has been honoured with a concert in his memory.
Schools around the town all came together to celebrate, through music, the contribution Terry made to the children of Westbury.
As a stalwart of the Lions Club of Westbury, Terry organised the Lions’ interschool concert for primary schools every year, and so the concert made a truly fitting tribute.
The concert was held on Wednesday 13th October at Matravers School, with performances from Westbury Infants School, Westbury Leigh School, Bratton School, Dilton Marsh School, Westbury Junior School, Bitham Brook School, and Matravers.
The concert, which was attended by Terry’s widow Jenny as well as the town’s current mayor, town councillors, and members of the Lions club, ended with all of the pupils up on stage for a combined performance.
Jan Ball, chair of the Westbury Area Heads, said she was delighted with how the concert went. “I thought it was brilliant – and a fitting tribute,” she said.
“We felt that Terry had made such a contribution. He used to organise the schools concert for the Westbury Lions for some years, he was a real driving force and he loved to hear the children sing.
“We all recognised that he did lots for the children, and his heart was in music.”
Aside from his involvement with the Lions, Terry was also a governor of Westbury Junior School for over 10 years.
