AFTER a short period of closure, The Railway Inn is back up and running – with some familiar faces behind the bar!
Local couple Paul and Teresa Mead have taken over the pub for the third time and will be welcoming old friends and new customers from their opening night on Friday 10th December.
Teresa said, “Paul made a very, very casual enquiry to the brewery and within 24 hours the area manager rang us up and asked if he would meet him. The meeting was on the Friday at 3.30pm and by 4.00pm he had the keys in his hand – it’s still very surreal!
“We’re very keen on keeping it as a family pub – it always was and we want that to continue. By next summer we’ll have a new play area for the children and we’ll do a lot of work over the next couple of years.
“We used to have a really good food trade, and we’ll have a new menu in the New Year, and there’ll be promotions on drinks. There’ll be discos, good old karaoke which everyone loves, and live music. We’ll also do special offers on the hall – we’ve got a lovely big hall which we’re going to redecorate.” The hall is suitable for a variety of functions, including weddings, Christenings, birthdays, and charity events.
The pub is welcoming any teams for pool, skittles, darts, and crib, and those interested can call Teresa on 07837 940 648.
Paul and Teresa first took on the pub in 1995, leaving it as a thriving pub in 2001. They returned in 2002 before leaving again in 2005.
