TEACHER Julie Lusty retired from Westbury Leigh Primary School after 20 years’ service, at the end of the school term.
Julie completed her teacher training in Devon and then moved to Kent where she taught for three years before starting a family. Julie and her husband Paul had two sons, Will and Pete, and Julie was able to enjoy a break from teaching as she brought them up.
Julie and her family then moved to Wiltshire, and soon she was teaching again, at Studley Green, Dilton Marsh and New Close in Warminster.
Julie started as a supply teacher at Westbury Leigh School before becoming a permanent junior teacher. She worked for many years as a year 3 teacher before moving to Reception around 12 years ago.
Julie has been a member of staff at Westbury Leigh School for the last 20 years, where she has taught generations of the same families and some 600 pupils.
Headteacher Debbie Grimsey said, “Julie has always been an extremely dedicated and hardworking member of staff. She has a wonderful sense of humour and will be much missed by the staff, children and parents of our school community. We wish her a well-deserved, long and happy retirement, which will no doubt be spent visiting France and enjoying long cycle rides!”
