Now in its sixth year, the ‘Christmas in Westbury’ 2011 programme features a range of major events acting as a focus plus the co-promotion of other local events and activities creating a community wide programme that offers something for everyone .
Details of all events are published in the ever popular ‘Christmas in Westbury’ booklet distributed to every home.
The events get off to an exciting start on Friday 25th November with the ‘Lights Switch on Event’. (4.45pm – 7.00pm) in the High Street.
Lights will be switched on at 6pm. There will be Father Christmas, music, mince pies, children’s rides, entertainment and much more….
Here are the evening’s events in more detail:
• 4.45pm – Festive music & announcements
• 5.00pm – Announcement of the winners of the fancy dress competition
• 5.10pm – 5.40pm – Choir and ukulele band to sing and play
• 5.30pm – Lions Father Christmas float to start moving in.
• 5.40pm – Announcement of the winners of the Christmas card competition
• 5.50pm – Prize winners to have photographs taken with Father Christmas.
• 5.55pm – Count down to the lights switch on
• 6.00pm – LIGHTS ON!
• 6.05pm – Announcements of events leading up to Christmas.
• 6.15pm – Father Christmas leaves through rear of the stage to Haynes Road.
Saturday 3rd December – (2pm-4pm) Leighton Recreation Centre – ‘Children’s Xmas Party’.
For children aged 3-12 years. entertainment, activities, music, refreshments with Dave Hickory ‘Balloon Magician’ and Electric Go-Karts! – tickets £3.
Friday 9-11th and 16-17th December – All Saints Church – ‘Christmas Tree Festival’
Saturday 10th December – (10.00am – 4.00pm) High Street, Town Centre and Market Place – ‘Street Event Day’
Skating rink, reindeer, fairground rides, inflatables, music, entertainments, hot food and drinks and Artisans’ Christmas Market.
Friday 16th December – (6.00pm – 7.00pm) Market Place – ‘Outdoor Carol Concert’: Carols plus seasonal music for all the family – Father Christmas will be in the Market Place too!
Friday 16th December – (7.30pm – 10.30pm) Westbury Youth Development Centre: Karaoke, disco, film, light buffet and non-alcoholic drinks. For young people aged 11 – 17 years. FREE OF CHARGE
