A WESTBURY family is organising a sponsored bike ride for children, to raise money for the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Bristol Children’s Hospital in memory of their baby daughter.
Children are invited to come along and take part in the sponsored ride at Westbury United Football Club on Sunday 4th September at 3.00pm.
Lucy and Jim Pickernell’s daughter Maisie was cared for in the unit before she died in May last year, and now they want to raise money for the unit to help them support other children in need and their families.
Lucy said, “We’ve organised this bike ride to raise money for Bristol Children’s Hospital in memory of our daughter Maisie who passed away last year when she was 9 weeks old. She was born with a genetic condition, spinal muscular atrophy.
“We couldn’t fault the care that everyone at the unit gave her, and they gave us accommodation so we stayed there the whole time she was being cared for. Children can help us raise money with a sponsorship form, and we’re also having a barbecue, bouncy castle, and a really good raffle, so it’ll be great for people to come along and participate or just come to watch.”
If you would like to take part in the ride please contact Lucy on 07980 603 592.
