Westbury library will see five and a half hours per week cut from its opening hours, beginning on Monday 5th September.
The reduction comes following Wiltshire Council’s review of library services earlier this year. Libraries across the county will be operating with new core opening hours, a change that the council say will reduce operating costs of Wiltshire libraries by 12%, but enables all 31 libraries to stay open.
The main change will be that the library will be closed on Monday mornings, but the library will still allow for people who want to use the facility during evenings or weekends.
As from 5th September Westbury library’s new opening hours will be: Monday 2-7pm; Tuesday 9.30am – 5pm; Wednesday closed; Thursday 9.30am – 7pm; Friday 9.30am – 5pm; Saturday 9.30am – 1pm.
Situated in the town centre, Westbury Library is a busy centre of activity, and offers a wide range of services to the community. These currently include a range of books from contemporary to classics, books in large print, talking books, audio tapes, CDs and DVDs. There are also computers with free internet access and a photocopier and fax machine. The library hosts many reading groups and schemes for both children and adults, as well as special activities and offers during school holidays. The library will also be running events as part of the Westbury Music and Arts Festival from the 16th September – 2nd October.
