Come and join Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, Wiltshire Council and other local groups on Saturday 12th March in Grassacres Park and Hall for ‘Let’s Go Wild for Westbury’ between 10.30am and 3.30pm.

Jessica Thimbleby, community engagement officer said, “It’s going to be a fun-packed day of activities including a bouncy castle,  barbecue, bird of prey display, tea and cake, campfire cooking and other wild activities with Wiltshire Wildlife Trust’s ‘Wild Connections’ team.   There will be crafts and games helping you to reuse and recycle everyday rubbish.

“Crosspoint will be running a tombola and the White Horse Children’s Centre will be there creating fun.  Learn how to do simple bike maintenance and repairs with the Julian House bike workshop from Trowbridge. There’ll be a display of furniture and household items that have been saved from the tip and ‘re-loved’ by the Repair Academy and a chance to sign up for one of their ‘white goods maintenance’ courses.

“The winners of the grand final ‘Design a Bag’ competition, sponsored by Hills Waste Solutions, and launched throughout local primary schools will be announced and the Recycle for Wiltshire community wall-hanging, begun at the Westbury Music & Arts Festival, will be unveiled.”

Let’s Go Wild for Westbury is being organised to celebrate Recycle for Wiltshire, a joint venture funded by Wiltshire Council, spending the past year in Westbury.  The project has seen the waste team from Wiltshire Wildlife Trust educating and involving Westbury schoolchildren and residents to reduce, reuse and recycle their rubbish.

Jessica continues, “The current ‘Recycle for Wiltshire’ window display in Westbury Visitor Centre shows what kind of rubbish we put in our bins and what happens to our waste and recycling after the bin men have taken it away.  Handy tips to help you reduce, reuse and recycle your household rubbish are also included in the display.”

If you can display a ‘Let’s Go Wild for Westbury’ poster, would like to get involved or for more information about the day, please contact Jessica Thimbleby on 01380 736077 or jessicat@wiltshirewildlife.org
