AS the nights start drawing in, residents are invited to help brighten up the town by creating displays in their windows.
Mosaic artist, Ria-Jane Cann, has set up the Westbury Windows Facebook page for residents to create their designs, then post them and describe their location, so that local people can go and see them.
Ria-Jane, who runs Fragmented Arts community workshops, said she was inspired by the annual Frome Window Wanderland.
“We went last year and it was just amazing, “ she told White Horse News. “So many people will do something for Christmas and I thought this would be a nice thing for people to do now.”
She added, “Anything goes – favourite books, artists, animals, films. Halloween artworks are welcome, it may be a bit different for the little ones this year, so an art trail could be fun for everyone.
“Stained glass effects work well at night, with coloured tissue and silhouettes out of black card. First ones in will go on the cover and profile pics on the page!”
Contributors do not have to put their address on the Facebook page, just a road name is fine. The Facebook address is www.facebook.com/Westbury-Windows-114303813762414e.
Ria-Jane is offering to run family-only window-making workshops at £10 per child.
She is also making a Remembrance Day poppy mosaic for the Leigh Park Community Centre and is seeking sponsorship of £10 per child, so that children can also make a mosaic poppy to be included, for free.
Any families interested in attending a Westbury Windows workshop, or businesses who can offer sponsorship for the poppy project, can contact Ria-Jane on 07812 904193.
