WESTBURY Lions Club’s bookshop has opened in its new premises – just across the road from the old shop.
As the shop is twice as big as the previous one, the club hopes to fill the space with more books for the people of Westbury.
Lions fundraising chairman, Clive Watts said, “We are over the moon with the new premises which has accommodated our stock of over 7,000 books with ease.
“We should extend our gratitude to the owner, who wishes to remain anonymous, for offering the property at a peppercorn rent, and Julian Sandoe who has worked tirelessly with our members over the last few weeks to ensure we could take the new premises and prepare it before the old bookshop closed. We are also very grateful to Fine Signs for donating the sign for the shop which will be going up next week.
“In addition, we have had many members of the public who offered their time in helping us with the move, which included making many trips across the road carrying lots of books! It is wonderful to see so many people coming together to help the club continue providing the bookshop for the community.
“Our bookshop committee has many plans in store for the new space, and over the coming weeks we hope to further maximise the benefit of the new premises and increase the income that we receive from the community through this channel.”
