WESTBURY Lions Club’s bookshop has opened its new premises on Edward Street.
The move came about after the Lions received notice on their shop on Warminster Road, sparking fears that it could be the end of the much-loved community bookshop. However, following an appeal on Facebook, the new premises was found and in the space of three weeks, the Lions had set up shop on Edward Street.
The shop was officially opened by Westbury’s new mayor, cllr Ian Cunningham last month. Speaking at the event, Lions’ president, Angie Fawcett said, “A huge thank you to everyone who has made this move possible. May this new location be a great success!”
Lions’ fundraising chairman, Clive Watts added, “Everybody has pulled together. The move came upon us quite suddenly, but everyone has responded, come together and made it happen!”
Stocking over 7,000 books, the bookshop is open 10am to 1pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Donations of books are always welcome, but please drop them off during opening hours.
