A local charity supporting children with special needs has transformed a space thanks to a grant from Westbury-based Imperial Charity.
Stepping Stones, which supports children aged under four through its District Specialist Centre service based in Trowbridge, provides vital assistance to young people and families across Wiltshire, including those from Westbury.
As part of their recent 50th anniversary celebrations, Stepping Stones were awarded a £2,000 grant from Imperial Charity enhance their family consultation room.
The newly transformed room was officially opened by Mayor Jane Russ.
Steve Pope, business and charity manager at Imperial Charity, said, “We are delighted to continue our support for Stepping Stones, having done so for many years. The team of staff and volunteers have done an amazing job transforming the room into a bright and welcoming space.”
The renovated space is now used by external professionals such as paediatricians, speech therapists, and educational psychologists to meet with children and their families in a comfortable setting.
Additionally, the Stepping Stones team use the room for meetings with outside colleagues and families, as well as for special support sessions for parents.
Debbie Wickham, manager of Stepping Stones District Specialist Centre, said, “Once again we are hugely grateful for the support we receive from Imperial Charity. The grant we received for our family consultation room has helped to transform this space and reflects the value we place on working closely with families and colleagues for the benefit of each child.”
