Leighton Recreation Centre got behind this year’s BBC Children in Need Appeal with a 10-hour cycle event on Friday 15th November.
Fitness team members and customers cycled a total of 102 miles on a stationary exercise bike, raising a total of £79.67.
Keith Brunsden, general manager at Leighton Recreation Centre said, “It was a great way for colleagues and customers to get active and have fun whilst raising funds for this fantastic cause. We are pleased to be able to do a small bit to help support this year’s BBC Children in Need appeal, which helps to change the lives of disadvantaged children across the UK. Every young person should have the opportunity to enjoy their childhood to the fullest and together we hope to make a positive difference.”
BBC Children in Need currently funds over 3,000 local charities and projects in communities the length and breadth of the UK, helping children and young people facing a range of disadvantages such as living in poverty, being disabled or ill, or experiencing distress, neglect or trauma.
This year, Places Leisure who manage Leighton Recreation Centre on behalf of Wiltshire Council, were one of the official partners of BBC Children in Need and committed to supporting the appeal across 69 of its leisure facilities.
Claire Hoyle, commercial director at BBC Children in Need said, “BBC Children in Need, with the support of incredible supporters like Places Leisure, work tirelessly to fund over 3,000 local charities and projects which tackle these challenges, with fresh thinking and ideas that support the most vulnerable, build their confidence and resilience and make a lasting, positive change in their lives.”
