THE Cadet Vocational Qualification Organisation (CVQO) are working with a group of Year 9 students at Matravers School to equip them with leadership, confidence and team building skills this term.
The group will work together on conservation projects, shelter building, and citizenship: all skills which will benefit them in the lives.
Annette Marsden, alternative provision progress leader at Matravers School said, “Their first session was a great success with the students engaging thoroughly and already demonstrating a high level of maturity.” They were presented with their new uniforms which they will wear for the duration of the course and their shiny boots, which they are expected to keep spick and span!
The course will enable the students to complete a BTEC Level 1 in teamwork, personal skills and citizenship: a great achievement for students in Year 9. The scheme will culminate with a formal graduation ceremony, which the students themselves will plan and create.
This excellent opportunity will be offered to a second group of invited students in the summer term.
