THE winners of this year’s Mayor’s Christmas Card Competition were revealed at the Christmas lights switch – and the overall winner, Jasper Addison, was given the important task of switching on the whole of the town’s Christmas lights on stage in front of a packed Market Place.
Assisted by the deputy mayor, cllr Jane Russ, the
winner was chosen from 47 entries spread over three age classes 3-5, 6-8 and 9-11. Each class has an individual winner, with the overall winner’s card being printed and sent out as the official town council Christmas card.
Along with Jasper, Theo Addison and Rosie Longhurst were also brought on stage at the Christmas lights celebration event as the winners of their age category.
“One of most delightful duties of the mayor is to choose the winner of the annual Christmas Card Competition,” said mayor, cllr Mike Sutton. “Thank you to everyone that took part this year – the standard was high and we all loved seeing your pictures. We want to give a special mention to Iris Cristofoli from Bitham Brook whose design was particularly imaginative.”
