DILTON Marsh Mothers’ Union attended a meeting in Salisbury last month to discuss gender-based violence.
Enid Holbrow reports, “Our main meeting, amongst others, was the service at Salisbury Cathedral as part of the ‘Sixteen Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence’.
“Globally, around one in three women will be affected by gender-based violence at some point in their lifetime. It is most often directed against women, although men and boys can also be affected as violence can take many forms, including: emotional and mental abuse, coercive and controlling behaviour, financial control as well as violence and abuse.
“The Mothers’ Union has produced a poster which can often be found in public toilets etc, with details of emergency helpline numbers.
“A collection of cleaning materials was donated by MU members for the local women’s refuge.”
