WESTBURY Town Council elected its new mayor and deputy mayor at the annual council meeting on Tuesday 5th May.
Councillor David Bradshaw was elected Mayor of Westbury, and cllr Stephen Andrews took over the role as deputy. Both councillors are serving in their roles for the first time.
Cllr Bradshaw, who is a Conservative representative for the Westbury East ward, will replace cllr Christine Mitchell, who served the 2014/15 term.
Cllr Bradshaw said, “I am delighted and honoured to have been elected Mayor of Westbury and look forward to a busy year ahead representing the people of Westbury and promoting the town.
“During my mayoral year I will be raising awareness and money for two local charities – Crosspoint and Welfare of the Elderly (Westbury).”
Cllr Bradshaw’s first outings as mayor were the unveiling of the Guiding centenary mosaic in the White Horse Health Centre, and lighting the VE Day beacon on the White Horse earlier this month.
Mayoral duties will include chairing of the town council, attending civic events, raising the profile of the local community and council, promoting public involvement in the council’s activities, and raising money for his chosen charities.
