DILTON and Brokerswood priest Revd Caroline Husband (pictured) has been appointed Minister in Charge at Dilton Marsh.
Revd Rebecca Harris, team rector of the White Horse team ministry (Westbury, Westbury Leigh, Dilton Marsh and Brokers- wood) told White Horse News, “Having arrived in the White Horse Team, one of the first priorities I wanted to address was how to affirm Caroline in her ministry as the team vicar and also in her role at Dilton Marsh.
“After discussion with Caroline and Dilton Marsh Parochial Church Council, we reviewed her role and how we plan to work together. We decided to appoint Caroline minister in charge at Dilton Marsh. She is the parish priest for Dilton and Brokerswood; she is resident in the parish and during the last three years has become embedded in the community. She is getting to know people, church members and parishioners, and they are getting to know her. She knows the history, the background and the personalities.”
Rebecca said, “I believe it’s important for a parish priest to be the one whom local people turn to for support, pastoral care, leading the local churches forward in mission and ministry, and collaborating with the churchwardens, PCC and church members. In this way, I believe the local church can grow and flourish.
“This will also help Caroline to grow and flourish in her ministry. In her team vicar role, Caroline will be supporting Westbury through her work with Westbury Leigh school, developing a role with Matravers Secondary School and pastoral care for Westbury Court nursing home. Baptism and marriage preparation will continue as a Team activity. We will be working together offering courses via ‘zoom’ or ‘in person’ and will periodically ‘swap pulpits’.
“For my part, I shall be the parish priest for the Westbury Parish including Westbury Leigh, and as team rector be available to Caroline and Dilton Marsh PCC for support, encouragement and advice as and when necessary. We hope that these arrangements will enable the growth of the church and the Kingdom of God in both our parishes.”
