THE committee of Westbury Leigh Community Hall’s monthly market is in need of a new organiser if the fundraising event is to continue in 2016.
Local woman Beryl Drake, who has organised the market for nearly ten years, retired following Tuesday’s market, 2nd December. So far nobody has stepped forward to take on the role, so the market cannot continue in 2016.
Beryl said, “I don’t remember how I became part of the committee to begin with, but it has been running for a long time. It’ll be a shame to see it go, but nobody has expressed an interest in taking over.
“It’s a lovely community event and I always enjoy meeting the people there.
“Our thanks go to all the stall holders, the WI ladies who served the tea and coffee, and the public who supported the market over the years.”
Beryl took over the market in 2006, but had been involved since its inauguration in 2000, when it grew from a weekly coffee morning to a monthly market.
