THE current mayor of Westbury, cllr Sheila Kimmins, could see out another year of mayorship after she was nominated once again by her fellow councillors. Cllr Mike Sutton was also nominated to be deputy mayor.

The nominations came at the recent full town council meeting, with the current deputy cllr Ward Jones confirming he will not stand for another year.
Cllr Jane Russ nominated cllr Kimmins, and said, “I would like to nominate cllr Kimmins for another year. It strikes me with the current situation of the world in general, and life in particular, it does us a lot of good to have a steady hand on the wheel. I feel that cllr Kimmins did a very good job last time and knows how to work the role.”
In response, cllr Kimmins said, “I thank you all very much indeed, I will try and do my best for the town for next year. I would like to make a personal point to our deputy mayor, cllr Ward Jones. He is a man of very few words, but what he does say is always sensible and he has been most helpful; whenever I’ve had a problem, he has provided some very wise words. So again, the most personal thanks to Ward.”
Cllr Mike Sutton was also nominated by cllr Jane Russ, who said, “I know that the current deputy, cllr Ward Jones, is not wanting to stand again, and so I would like to nominate cllr Sutton.”
There will be a vote for these nominations in May.
