Residents and care staff at Westbury Court care home held a beach-themed event for family and friends as well as other visitors from the local community to celebrate care home open day, on the 19th June.
Graham Oakes, home manager at Westbury Court said, “Westbury Court’s open day event was a big success and it was a pleasure to welcome the Mayor and Mayoress into our home.
“Residents, staff and people from the local community thoroughly enjoyed our beach-themed event complete with a traditional Punch & Judy show, sand castle building and lots of ice cream treats.
“We always love welcoming visitors and we find that when people see our home they question any previous perceptions they may have had about care homes.”
Mayor of Westbury, cllr David Bradshaw said, “We have been very impressed with both the facilities and the staff, we have thoroughly enjoyed the visit. The staff are a real credit to the home. It was particularly lovely to see so many very contented residents who clearly enjoyed the company of the children from Westbury Infant School.”
Phyllis Alridge came to Westbury Court care home in 2012 as the very first resident. Phyllis, who will be 104 in November said, “Since coming to Westbury Court I have seen many changes (after all nowhere can be perfect). However, I have no complaints whatsoever now and feel everyone at the home are so kind and caring; of course I do need help and it is always available.”
