ALZHEIMER’S Support welcomes people living with dementia and family carers to its Memory Cafes in Westbury and Warminster.
The cafes are a great way to meet others in a similar situation, enjoy some entertainment such as musicians and speakers, and chat informally to dementia professionals over tea and cake.
George, regularly attends a Memory Café with wife Briony, said, “I used to be quite morose and not talk very much but going to the Memory Cafe has made me quite chatty. You meet similar couples and it’s brought back all sorts of memories for me.”
Briony added, “I go through stages of coping well, but sometimes it can be difficult. Every week we sit with someone different at the café so it’s a chance to talk to a different couple. I’m learning and it helps.”
The Westbury Café meets every second Wednesday of the month, 4.30pm to 6.00pm at Grassacres Hall, BA13 3NZ.
The Warminster Café meets on the last Monday of the month, Lakeside Community Centre, BA12 9NH.
