WESTBURY’S new weekend market, which was opened by Mayor of Westbury cllr Sue Ezra, has been heralded as a success.

Organiser Laurence Williams said that although there had been a smaller number of traders than they might have liked, those that did come reported healthy profits and had booked their spots for following markets. And he has high hopes that the market would go from strength to strength as word spread about it.
“We are really happy with how it went,” said Laurence, who will be running the market with business partner Ivon Barnsley. “It’s a great start to build on and we’ve already got a good number booked in for next weekend. We’ve got the perfect location here.”
The market will run every Saturday and Sunday morning on two acres of hard-standing at the entrance to the Northacre Trading Estate, near The Ham, Westbury. With space for around 300 car boot pitches, organisers hope that the venture will turn into a thriving regular event drawing crowds from afar.
