CONCERNS about the availability of post office services in the Westbury community area will be under the spotlight at the next Westbury area board meeting.
Post Office senior stakeholder manager Laura Tarling will be at the meeting at Heywood to explain plans for the refurbishment of the main post office at the Co-op and to answer questions about other postal services in the area.
Local people have been telling their councillors about their concerns and the area board hope this discussion will help allay their worries and clarify the situation.
Area board chairman Russell Hawker said, “We know post office services are of vital importance to local communities and we want to do all we can to help.”
Junior school pupils will be taking a starring role at the board meeting when they get the chance to talk about their community. The 10 and 11 year olds from local junior schools took part in a Pupils Voice conference earlier this year and are visiting the board meeting to report back about their opinions, views and issues.
The conference, which was organised by the extended schools service and local schools, was funded by the area board.
The area board meets at Heywood village hall on Thursday 17th October at 7.00pm. People attending the board will also be able to find out more about the public health issues that affect the area.
Everyone is very welcome to the meeting. There will be refreshments before the meeting starts.
