STEP Up pre-school has received a new heating and hot water system as part of the community grant scheme supported by Selwood Housing and Bradfords Building Supplies.
The Dilton Marsh-based pre-school have given their thanks to the grant scheme, as due to their status as a privately-owned business, they rarely qualify for grants.
Rachael Dean, co-owner/manager of Step Up pre-school told White Horse News, “When our hot water system failed back in the spring term, we were frequently boiling kettles for hot water, which is neither particularly practical or safe.”
“We were very concerned how we were going to find the money to replace it as our usual fundraising events had stopped due to the pandemic.”
“We decided to take a chance on applying, as Selwood had very kindly helped us before when we first re-located here back in February 2019, by contributing some funds towards an outdoor undercover play area.”
“We couldn’t believe our luck when they agreed to not only fit the new system completely free, and had also contacted Bradfords Building Supplies who had agreed to donate all the parts, including the boiler, radiators and all pipework.”
“They installed it over the summer break in time for the autumn term. The difference it has made is unbelievable, the old heaters took up a lot of space and were not very efficient at all, so it has allowed us to make better use of the space in our classrooms and will also save us money on our energy bills in the long run.”
