CYGNETS Pre-school raised £350 in aid of Lisa Wells, a Frome mum who has been diagnosed with cancer, by holding a ‘wear something pink day’ and cake sale on Friday 20th April.
Staff sported distinctive bright pink ‘Lisa’s Army’ t-shirts and the children, enjoying the heatwave, wore their own favourite pink clothes.
Staff and pupils at Westbury Leigh Primary School joined in the fundraising too, with many swapping their red uniforms for pink outfits for the day.
At the end of the school day, parents, staff and children joined a queue that snaked out into the playground to buy homemade cakes and other goodies.
Lisa’s Army UK has been set up to raise funds to leave a lasting legacy for the two young children of Frome mum Lisa Wells, who has stage 4 terminal bowel cancer. The campaign also aims to raise awareness of cancer during pregnancy and to generate additional funds for Dorothy House.
Manager of Cygnets, Emma Osmond said, “We were absolutely delighted with the support our event received – from all the parents and families who contributed cakes, to the children who enjoyed wearing their pink clothes, and all those from Westbury Leigh School who joined in.
“Lisa Wells and her fundraising efforts are inspirational, so we are very proud that the Cygnets community has been able to make a contribution.”
