BRATTON Primary School has thanked those that have been getting creative and designing scarecrows for the upcoming Bratton Scarecrow Trail which is taking place from Saturday 29th to Sunday 30th June.
Students, staff, volunteers, members of the community and even groups and organisations from within Bratton village are designing and creating a scarecrow for the annual scarecrow trail.
The school says, “A big thank you to everyone who has very kindly volunteered to make a scarecrow for the Bratton Scarecrow Trail. Every scarecrow creation is a joy to witness, and raises smiles from everyone. Last year’s event was extremely well attended and was loved by all!
“This year’s event has had a few tweaks from last year to make it even better; it really will be fun, and we encourage families, members of the village and locally to pop the date in their diaries. Do come along and see all the wonderful creativity on display across the beautiful village.
“The main family-themed scarecrow trail will be ‘pairs’ which will comprise of famous duos. We are also organising a more simplified children’s trail for the little ones, ‘Out of the Ark’, which also fits with the theme of ‘pairs’. The children’s trail will be pairs of animals hand-drawn by students at the school. We have some lovely, talented student artists, and we can’t wait to witness their personal drawings of animals!
“Both trails will consist of a shorter circular route, using the two village crossing points to make it easier for all. The scarecrows will be situated on the route in closer proximity to each other, and in general, this will create a real impact in the village setting. The village will look like a pop-up art installation over the scarecrow trail weekend!
“Prizes will be cash prizes this year, thanks to our wonderful company sponsor. Scarecrows trail sheet winners: first £100, second £50, third £25, and children’s trail prizes of first £25, second £15 and third £10. The best scarecrow creator will win £50 to celebrate their creative efforts.
“We are all excited that this will make a fantastic event for local families to enjoy, and it’s a great opportunity to boost fundraising for the school. Plus, it will be so lovely to see creativity from families, school students and local residents dotted about Bratton village for all to enjoy!
“More details will follow as Project Scarecrow develops over the months ahead but we are pleased to announce that we now have the 35 scarecrows that we need for the trail! Let the creativity and excitement begin! Please like our Bratton Scarecrow Trail Facebook page to keep update of developments!”
