A WESTBURY Leigh man, who designed the packaging for a new “beer with a difference,” is calling on beer lovers to drink a pint to raise money for Ukrainian brewers affected by the war.
BUDMO!, which means cheers in Ukrainian, is a new beer which will be available to buy from Aldi later this month.
Gary designed the packaging which features the colours of the Ukrainian flag and doves of peace. BUDMO! has been described as a crisp & refreshing bohemian-style lager.
The company behind the beer says the profits will be donated to Ukrainian breweries who have been forced to shut due to the invasion by Russia.
Gary Prosser is a designer, music promoter, and co-owner of the Fightback Lager company which donates a percentage from every sale of its products to a charity that supports grassroots music venues.
Gary said he and his colleagues felt inspired to do something to help Ukrainian brewers after hearing about the destruction of breweries in Ukraine following the invasion.
He said, “We were seeing it on the news and hearing in our own circles about the devastation going on over there and when we saw breweries getting destroyed, we realised there was a clear path for us to do something to help the brewers and their families affected by the war.
“All profits will be going towards Ukrainian breweries so we can help start to rebuild that part of the economy and just do our bit. The beer not only tastes great, but it’s for an even better cause – it’s a beer with a difference so I’d call on everyone to raise a glass for Ukraine”.
The profits from the beer will go to the following Ukrainian breweries: Var Var, Didko, Pro Art, Mova, PZDK, Nezalezhnist, Odd Brew, Underwood, and Kyiv Local.
