DILTON Marsh Primary School welcomes new headteacher, Jill Hibbs, to the village, who brings with her 30 years of teaching experience.
Jill is welcomed to the school following her previous seven-year appointment at a primary school in Market Lavington. She moves her teaching career back to the area, first starting out at Westbury Juniors School and also working at Bitham Brook School.
Jill Hibbs told White Horse News, “The opportunity arose to join Dilton Marsh Primary School and I took it! Coming from a school with just three classes, having the village feel again was something that drew me towards the role. The children and staff here are really enthusiastic about learning and keen to help move the school forward, which is really nice. Together we will take it onwards and upwards!
“The Acorn Trust, who support and work with the school, have been great, very supportive of my new role here. We are part of the trust and they help us to give great opportunities to our children.”
When asked what her favourite part about teaching was, Jill said, “Definitely the children, seeing their smiling faces each day is so rewarding and their positive enthusiasm for learning.”
Every new role comes with a new vision, when asked what hers was Jill said, “Dilton Marsh has been on a rocky road recently and I hope that we as a team can bring it back to where it belongs.
“I have settled in well here so it’s a great start, the children and staff are all lovely and the parents have been really welcoming. I enjoy meeting lots of new people every morning, greeting them as they come inside. We also hold coffee mornings where I have had the chance to interact one-on-one with parents too.
“There are exciting things coming up for Dilton Marsh Primary School including their Christingle service later this month. It will be a great opportunity to build links between the church and the school.”
