THIS year’s Lions concert, the first for a few years, allowed all Westbury schools to come together for the evening to perform under the theme of ‘friendship’ on Wednesday 22nd March.
A record number of 180 young people from the town performed during the evening, from the smallest children from Westbury Infant School right up to Y11 students from Matravers School.
This year the theme was ‘friendship’ and the schools each put together a contribution to the programme. including songs such as “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” (from Toy Story), “With a Little Help from my Friends” (The Beatles), We Go Together (from Grease) and “Count on Me” (Bruno Mars).
The schools also joined together for a welcome song called “Siyanibulisa” which started the concert off and then ended the concert with the finale, which was “You’ve Got a Friend” (James Taylor/Carole King).
The President of the Westbury Lions, Angie Fawcett, then awarded the schools with the annual donation.
