AN old telephone box in Westbury Market Place has been given to the town council and they are looking for ideas on how to utilise it.
It has been an on-going project for the town council who have wanted to have ownership of the listed BT phone box for some time and make use of the space. Now the town council own the telephone box they can get to work on making it a interesting feature in the town.
Deputy mayor, cllr Ian Cunningham said, “This is wonderful news as we have been working on this project for some time. We have a few ideas on how to renovate it; perhaps an information point or interactive map, but these are just ideas at the moment.
“We would love to hear from the public on how they think the box can be used, bearing in mind that it is in the Market Place. I know in some areas they have been used a mini libraries where people can drop off and pick up books, but I think this happens in villages mainly. Still, we would like to hear your thoughts on the future of the telephone box. It is listed so we are slightly limited, but ideas are welcome.”
