FUNDRAISING sisters, Mildred and Edith Harris went county-wide last week, appearing on BBC Wiltshire radio, to share their story of collecting over 100,000 crisp packets.
Sisters, Mildred who is 11 and Edith who is 4, have been collecting crisp packets in conjunction with Terracycle, an innovative recycling company taking hard-to-recycle waste and reusing, upcycling and recycling it instead of being incinerated or going to landfill.
The waste is then swapped for money and donated to charity, in this case Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
In the last issue of White Horse News, issue 699, it was reported that Mildred and Edith Harris had stopped counting after collecting over 20,000 packets.
The girls’ mother, Alexis Harris, now believes, after spending a long time counting, that they have actually collected over 100,000!
The news of their fundraising efforts in White Horse News reached BBC Wiltshire, who visited the pair in their home last week and were interviewed live on air.
Alexis said, “The girls loved being on the radio!”
They were also joined by Wiltshire Air Ambulance volunteers to thank them for their generous donation of over £100 so far.
If you would like to help them with their collection, there are drop off points available at Bitham Brook Primary School, White Horse Health Centre, Horningsham Primary School, the Scout Hut, Westbury Rugby Club, Westbury Conservative Club and Mears Care in Devizes.
