WESTBURY Festival is well under way but with lots of events across the town including concerts, demonstrations, talks and recitals still yet to come!
This year’s festival – the eleventh – has a wider range of events than ever before and people have been turning out in force to support the annual fortnight of culture and entertainment.
Chair of the festival, Ian Cunningham said, “It has been a fabulous start to the festival! There is a whole load of events left to come, but what has already been, has been great! Dr Zebo’s was a great way to kick it all off with a great crowd.
“The discover Westbury event was a good way to get all Westbury community groups in one room and I certainly learnt a lot from being there, showing that there are things to do in the town, despite the rain which I am sure people avoided. There was lots of interest around the different groups.
“The library events have also been really well supported and the church was packed out for the Cardiff Male Choir!
“Coming up in the festival there are plenty of interesting events. If you’re interested in singing and taking part, the Pirates of Penzance event is really exciting – an hour and a half rehearsal and then you’re on, there are over 30 people already signed up.
“The tea dance with a classic Fred and Ginger film afterwards looks very popular, alongside the Harpsichord Recital with Dilton Arts Trust and Rock at The Hollies!
“I’m also fascinated by the Extraordinary Women of West Wiltshire talk at the library and also the origami masterclass!”
Don’t miss out on the rest of what the festival has to offer, with the majority of events free until Sunday 7th October.
From film showings, to recitals, pottery workshops to origami classes, folk dancing to rock music there will be something for everyone, including children. Bring them along to Rhyme Time at Westbury Library or take them to the circus skills workshop.
