

The first ever White Horse News ‘Cutest Pet’ competition has been won by Teegan, a Thirteen-year old Husky dog; who, alongside her five brothers and sisters, has competed across the UK in Sled Dog Rallies.
Hundreds of votes came in across all entries, however the lucky winner of a pet hamper from ‘Pets Corner’ in Warminster was Husky, Teegan.
Teegan is one of nine dogs from a litter bred by owner Hazel Mead, who decided to keep six of them. Together they then formed a dog sled team, running in harness alongside each other competing in dryland Sled Dog Rallies across the UK, even as far as Aviemore.
Teegan, at the age of one, was quickly was selected as the lead dog in the team, however has now gracefully retired at the grand age of thirteen.
Chloe Raymond, Hazel’s daughter and owner of Teegan said, “Teegan has well and truly earned her retirement, she was an excellent part of the team and won many races along with her brothers and sisters. She now spends most of the day sleeping and resting but still enjoys a good walk.
“She recently, just two weeks ago, had to undergo a life saving operation, but is doing remarkably well now and on the mend. She really is a wonderful dog with a heart of gold.
“Unfortunately, Teegan now lives alongside only three of her siblings, as well as a rescue husky and a 1-year-old border collie. Her siblings were taken by Cancer and other illnesses, it’s a cruel world.”
Steve O’Neil, District Manager of Pets Corner said, “It has been great being involved in this competition. We like to help out local people and we often get regular dogs from Westbury and enjoy the community aspect, which runs nicely alongside being a family-run business.
“Teegan was definitely a worthy winner, very cute, I think it was her eyes that sold it, they’re great in the photos but you have to see them in real life!”
