WITH just weeks away from Dorothy House Hospice Care’s first ever Bubble Rush, there’s still time to enter.
On Sunday 31st July hundreds of entrants will be running, skipping and walking along a 5km route filled with rainbow coloured clouds of foam at Castle Combe Race Circuit near Chippenham and it will be the first Bubble Rush event in the South West.
Emily Knight, Events Fundraiser, said, “We can’t wait to see everyone getting involved in foamy, family fun whilst raising money for Dorothy House Hospice Care at the same time.”
There are no age restrictions and the route is child friendly. The circuit is suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs and prams. It’s not a race; the aim is for everyone to pass the finish line frothy and smiling. There will be three waves, which take place at 3pm, 4pm and 5pm.
Taking part in the inaugural Bubble Rush this year is Bev Edwards, “I’m entering with my family, including sisters, nephews, nieces and friends in memory of our wonderful dad/grampy, Pat Seviour who died in April. He would find the thought of us running through bubbles totally hilarious, and if he was here, no doubt he would be taking part on his mobility scooter. We are just so grateful to the Dorothy House staff for what they gave us and we want to support them in any way we can.”
The Bubble Village will be party-central with jazzy pre-event warm up routine, live entertainment, children’s activities and lots of yummy food! There’s fun for participants and spectators alike.
Entry is free for children aged 3 and under, children (aged 4-16) cost £7.50 and adults (aged 17+) cost £25. All paying participants will receive a T-shirt and a medal.
There is no minimum sponsorship required but participants are encouraged to raise as much as they can for Dorothy House Hospice Care to help fund vital patient care and to celebrate the charity’s 40th birthday.
Charlotte McDermott is doing the Bubble Rush in memory of her mum, Trish Mill, who was cared for at Dorothy House. She says: “I’m doing the Bubble Rush with my partner, Daniel, and our son Archie. What made me sign up to do this is the fact that my little boy could get involved. He never got the chance to meet his Nanny but I love the fact that this gives him the opportunity to participate in fundraising for a place very close to my heart.”
