MATRAVERS pupil, Kate Mozley has donated 12 inches of her hair to the Little Princess Trust and has raised £140 for the charity.
14-year-old Kate was inspired to have her long locks cut off by her friend who did the same last year.
The Little Princess Trust make wigs for children who have lost their hair through illness.
Kate said, “It’s nice to know that by just having my hair cut, I’m helping someone. It might only make one wig but that’s going to make a difference which is important.
“My family and friends have been really supportive of me cutting my hair, if not a bit shocked. I’ve raised £140.50 so far which I’m really please about as I set myself a target of £100.”
Kate’s mum Sally said, “I was really shocked when she said she wanted to have her cut off, especially when she showed me a picture of how short she was going to have it. But I’m really proud of her and think it’s amazing what she’s done.”
