AS his term as mayor ends, cllr David Windess looks back over his year in office, which culminated in meeting the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh at Westbury’s marquee at the Jubilee event in Salisbury last week.
Reflecting on his year, cllr Windess said, “I have had a very busy year, I have attended over 120 events and functions on behalf of Westbury, I have visited places that I would not normally have got to see, and made some great new friends. “Some of the highlights of the year was taking the salute on Remembrance Sunday, and the Christmas light switch-on, and also attending the commissioning board at Leighton House. I would like to thank the people of Westbury and my fellow councilors for giving me the opportunity to represent them this year. “I have had the pleasure of opening a few new businesses in Westbury which in the present financial climate is very encouraging and wish them the best for the future. I would like to thank my wife Trudy for all her support this year as she has also done a fantastic job, “The White Horse is back thanks to the fantastic work of the Westbury Rotarians.”
