A DISAPPEARING roundabout near Westbury town centre has reappeared in response to safety concerns from residents and local businesses.
Markings for the mini-roundabout that connects Warminster Road (A350), Haynes Road (A350) and Bratton Road (B3098) had worn away to the point that some drivers were unaware that the roundabout existed. Markings that indicated drivers should give way had also faded, causing a number of near-miss accidents, witnessed by locals and businesses situated near the roundabout.
In response to the safety concerns raised, Wiltshire Council has repainted the mini-roundabout and give way road markings.
Negotiator for Allen & Harris, George Drake, who witnessed the chaos caused by the disappearing roundabout prior to its reappearance said, “I would say that there is less confusion than there was before, now the markings are back. There has been a reduction in the number of cars honking their horns.
“Although, it does look like the roundabout is starting to wear away already.”
