A NEW butcher has set up shop in Westbury town centre and is keen to attract new customers.
Elliott’s was opened at 4 High Street by experienced butcher Andrew Elliott in early April. Since opening, he has enlisted two new staff to help with running the shop.
Andrew said, “I believe every town should have a traditional butchers, and with Westbury expanding and Linham’s closing down, I felt like my opportunity had come after 20 years!
“Business is going better than expected already, and we hope it will improve as word gets out.
“What sets us apart from supermarkets is the fact that I can tell you where at least 95% of our meat comes from, and everything is sourced as locally as possible. Our pork is from Shepton Mallet, lamb from Bishopstrow, and we try to use local abattoirs as well.”
Andrew, who also runs Farleigh Road Farm Shop in Norton St. Philip, is open for business from 8.30am to 5.00pm from Monday to Saturday.
Linham’s, Westbury’s family butcher for 50 years, closed its store on Maristow Street in November last year, saying that the new Aldi store and changes to parking in the town had adversely affected their business.
