Tribute have been paid to a dedicated volunteer who made an impact within the Westbury community.
Jappie Lynch, also known as John or JJ, was a long-time volunteer at Crosspoint. The charity provides a welcome centre in Westbury, which offers a local food bank, debt advice and a personal counselling service.
In a statement issued last week, Crosspoint Trustees said, “It is with sadness that we have to announce the recent death of Jappie Lynch, more commonly known to his friends and colleagues as John or JJ.
“John had been a regular volunteer with Crosspoint for many years. He developed good working relationships with our clients and often stepped in at short notice to help if we were short of volunteers when the Welcome Centre was open.

“John surely had the most extensive selection of hats in the Westbury area and cut a dashing figure on his regular walking route. He was also a dab hand at cribbage and an ardent Ireland and Bath rugby fan.
“In addition to his friends and colleagues at Crosspoint, John will be missed by his buddies at The Ludlow Arms and The Crown Inn in Westbury and also the many other good friends and colleagues from the surrounding areas who he met over the years.
“Rest in peace, John, and thank you for all you did for people in the local community.”
A funeral service will be held at Semington Crematorium at 1pm on Friday, 25 April, followed by a wake at The Ludlow Arms, Westbury.
