Westbury’s micro brewer, launched in May 2014, is celebrating a Gold award at the SIBA South West regional competition.
SIBA, the Society of Independent Brewers Association, hold annual beer competitions in the various regions of the UK and brewers from that region enter their beers to compete in a blind tasting against each other. Tuckers Maltings in Newtown Abbott host the competition and have a beer festival on the three following days.
Gaucho, a core beer, was entered into the competition along with Rider by Twisted Brewing and went up against 300 other beers from the region. Gaucho was awarded Gold in its class winning the category of strong bitters and pale ales 2016.
The beer will now be entered against the other regional winners in the UK sometime later this year.
Twisted’s brewer Andrew Murray said, “It’s a huge success. We are very happy to have picked up an award at such a prestigious competition where more experienced and established brewers dominate. Our beers have great local provenance, being stocked and drunk in a number of great local pubs.”
