VICTORIAN Westbury, a history exhibition showing off the town’s past, opened at The Laverton on Bratton Road last week.
A crowd of people gathered to watch the mayor of Westbury, councillor Stephen Andrews, officially open the exhibition last Friday. The exhibition ‘Victorian Westbury – a tale of industry, enterprise, philanthropy and political ambition’ explores Westbury’s past and the contributions the Laverton family made to the town.
It is now open to the public from 9am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday. Visitors should call ahead or knock on the town council offices if the door is closed.
Organiser Lilly Bale said, “I was really pleased with the opening event. We had 60 people turn up at the very beginning then smaller groups visited throughout the afternoon – some were faces I’d never seen before which was amazing to see. Feedback was good, too – people mostly rated us six out of seven!”
