WESTBURY’S League of Friends donated over £700 to a mobile chemotherapy charity recently, to help fund the unit’s visits to the town’s health centre.
The local healthcare fundraising group donated £755 raised from its annual bingo evening before Christmas, to Hope for Tomorrow.
Hope for Tomorrow runs a mobile chemotherapy centre that visits the White Horse Health Centre once a week so patients don’t have to travel to a major hospital for treatment.
Regional fundraiser Susan Turnock said, “Hope for Tomorrow would like to say a huge thank you to the League of Friends for their support.
“Our charity relies on donations like this to cover the cost of running the mobile chemotherapy units, and the support of local groups is hugely important.”
The chemotherapy unit, which is capable of treating up to 20 patients per day, has received regular support from the League of Friends in recent years. The group last year donated a similar amount – £739 – towards the service.
