A group of volunteers who run Dilton Memorial Hall have secured a major grant to help reduce running costs at the community venue.
A successful funding bid to Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) will enable the installation of solar panels and battery storage at the hall in Dilton Marsh. The work is being carried out by Warminster-based company Solar Tech and is expected to be completed by Christmas with minimal disruption to activities.
“Along with the underfloor insulation already installed, funded by a grant from Westmill Solar, we are looking forward to a warmer and less expensive winter in the hall,” said trustee Kathy Hutt.
“It’s something we’ve wanted to do for ages and we’re very excited about it, as it should improve our footprint and reduce fuel costs.”
The trustees are also appealing for more volunteers to join the team.
“There are just four trustees and management committee members who work non-stop to keep things running smoothly and efficiently at the hall, which is such an important resource at the heart of the community,” said Kathy.
“We get lots of comments about how lovely the hall is but really, really need more people to get involved.”
