A MUSICAL extravaganza featuring local choirs including Steeple Rocks will launch a packed programme of music, arts and activities when the annual Westbury Arts and Music Festival kicks off in September.
The CleyHill Stompers start their world tour in Bratton and Finnegan’s Wake also make a return by popular demand. Events include a WW1 commemoration featuring drama, poetry and music, workshops and art exhibitions, comedy music night, children’s entertainment, open mike events for people to join in, jazz, swing dance party and blues – or relax with an afternoon high tea with soothing live music.
County archivist Steve Hobbs will be turning the spotlight on Westbury history with a specialist talk at the library and a guided walk around Westbury Leigh finishing at the Hollies Inn for refreshment.
The festival will feature events at a variety of venues across the area, including the Hollies and Railway Inns and the Three Daggers, Westbury Library, the Laverton, All Saints Church and Fairfield Opportunity Farm.
Ian Cunningham, who is leading the festival this year, is delighted with the variety of the fortnight-long programme which will run from 26th September. He said, “There is something for everyone – and many of the events are free so we really hope as many people as possible will join in and support this popular community event.
“We still have a few slots available within the programme and we are always pleased to hear from potential sponsors – particularly local businesses.”
