BRATTON History Association is planning to resume meetings in April, after being forced to close its doors almost a year ago due to the pandemic.
The committee is hopeful most members and speakers will have received the Covid vaccination by the time the first meeting is planned to take place, on 18th April.
It will be followed by a short AGM.
Anne Bailey, association chair, told White Horse News, “We were forced to close our doors to meetings in March last year due to the pandemic. Up until this time, we were regularly holding meetings once a month. In the meantime, short reports are being emailed to members about the group’s activities.”
Existing members should note that they will be given free membership for 12 months starting from their last renewal date.
The BHA was first established in 1991 and ran until 2001. In January 2010 it was reinstated by local history enthusiasts. The association aims to provide all those curious about their local history with an opportunity to meet, exchange ideas, and discover more about the history of Bratton and Wiltshire.
Activities include monthly meetings, talks by professional historians, social events and the BHA’s own local history project. It also conducts historical walking tours of the village and gives talks to other groups in the local area.
The Bratton Historical Archive Project aims to collect, archive and provide public access to Bratton’s local history. This involves both cataloguing existing material and recording new research on an online archive, accessible to the public through the association’s website www.brattonhistory.co.uk
